Rockingham Writers Centre aims to provide regular networking groups for all experience levels and interest areas.

ADVANCED WRITERS GROUP

9.30AM – 11.30am first Monday of each month.

The aim of these sessions is to provide a forum where experienced writers can discuss their craft with others of a similar standard. The group is run by an experienced writer, with others providing expertise in specialist areas. Members include traditionally and self-published authors in various genres.

SHORT STORY WRITING GROUP

9.30am – 11.30am: first Wednesday of each month.

Members at all experience levels who are interested in writing short stories and discussing how they are structured, the elements of a good short story, editing and where and how to get published. Facilitated by author and publisher Karen McDermott.

BEGINNING WRITERS GROUP

7pm – 9pm: second Wednesday of each month.

This is not a writing class. The aim is to encourage beginner writers and provide them with a forum to discuss what they are writing and obtain assistance.

BRAVE NEW WRITERS GROUP

10.30am – 12pm: last Thursday of each month.

This is not a writing class. The aim is to encourage beginner writers and provide them with a forum to discuss what they are writing and obtain assistance.

POETRY GROUP

7pm – 9pm: third Thursday of each month.

Facilitated by Andrea Miller, winner of the City of Rockingham Poetry Prize in 2015. The group is looking at different forms of poetry such as free verse, sonnets and villanelles and discussing what each is and why these structures exist. Members try their hands at writing in these forms and reading their work to each other.

WORDPLAY YOUNG WRITERS GROUP

4pm – 5.30pm: second and fourth Tuesday of each month during school terms.
Creative writing sessions for young people with Teena Raffa-Mulligan. Give your imagination a workout in these informal sessions with an established author.
