Rockingham Writers Centre aims to provide regular networking groups for all experience levels and interest areas.

 

Groups are held in the upstairs meeting room at the rear of the Rockingham Arts Centre, 11 Kent Street, Rockingham.

ADVANCED WRITERS GROUP

9.30AM – 11.30am first Monday of each month.

These sessions provide a forum where experienced writers can discuss their craft with others of a similar standard. The group is run by Shona Husk, with others providing expertise in specialist areas. Members include traditionally and self-published authors in various genres.

SHORT STORY WRITING GROUP

9.30am – 11.30am: first Wednesday of each month.

Members at all experience levels who are interested in writing short stories and discussing how they are structured, the elements of a good short story, editing and where and how to get published. Facilitated by Shirley Rowland.

BEGINNING WRITERS GROUP

7pm – 9pm: second Wednesday of each month.

Members are beginning or developing writers and discussion is about how members can improve their writing with the aim of publication. Facilitated by Ross Binsted.

BRAVE NEW WRITERS GROUP

10.30am – 12pm: last Thursday of each month.

Members are beginning or developing writers and discussion is about how members can improve their writing with the aim of publication. Facilitated by Georgia Tingley.

POETRY GROUP

7pm – 9pm: third Thursday of each month.

Facilitated by Andrea Miller, winner of the City of Rockingham Poetry Prize in 2015. Members look at different forms of poetry and discuss what each is and why these structures exist. The aim is to equip poets with knowledge of different forms of poetry and encourage them to build up a collection of poems.
