Western Australian author Helen Iles writes crime fiction, disaster novels, young adult fiction, textbooks, poetry and children’s picture books. She has been published locally and internationally. Her award-winning short stories, poetry and non-fiction are featured in her collection of writing, Indelible Ink. Her second novel, A Call to Sarah, placed third in an international mystery writers’ competition, and Dark Secrets was long-listed for the Davitt Award 2019. She has won the Bronze Quill twice for short story writing, the National Horror Writers Award, the Best Film Script Idea in the Scarlet Stiletto competition, and numerous other national awards. When not writing, she teaches Creative Writing and manages Linellen Press, a small publishing house south of Perth. Working for thirty years in Emergency Services, she has written numerous fire, leadership and other emergency response training manuals, and has trained and managed mounted search teams for over 25 years. Her life-long experience with horses and responding to disasters often comes through in her stories and poetry.
